Introduction
Mrs. Indira Yakthumba
Founder Principal
Mrs. Indira Yakthumba is the Founder Principal of Gyanodaya Bal Batika School, Bungmati/Khokana, Lalitpur, Nepal.
In 1975, she founded Gyanodaya in loving memory of her husband, His Excellency Gyan Bahadur Yakthumba, a distinguished patriot, diplomat, and a public servant of Nepal. Her vision was to create an institution where education would inspire young minds, build strong character, and prepare students to contribute meaningfully to society.
For more than five decades, Mrs. Yakthumba has remained deeply committed to the cause of education. Through her leadership, perseverance, and belief in holistic education, Gyanodaya has evolved from a modest beginning into a respected educational institution, nurturing generations of students and encouraging them to pursue excellence with confidence and purpose.
Her remarkable contribution to education and society has been recognized through numerous awards and honours from both government and non-government organisations.
Today, as Gyanodaya celebrates 52 years of excellence, the school proudly honours the vision and enduring legacy of its Founder Principal, Mrs. Indira Yakthumba. Her journey is inseparably woven into the story of Gyanodaya, and her values continue to guide the institution as it looks toward the future.

Welcome to Gyanodaya School
Gyanodaya was founded
by Mrs. Indira Yakthumba in loving and lasting tribute to her husband, His
Excellency Late Gyan Bahadur Yakthumba, a distinguished patriot of Nepal
and a man of many accomplishments. He was a public servant, diplomat, advocate
of democracy, human rights and justice, and the first Inspector General of
Police appointed from the public. His values and lifelong commitment to the
nation continue to inspire the ethos of Gyanodaya.
Located in the serene
surroundings of Bungamati / Khokana, Lalitpur, Gyanodaya offers an
environment that is peaceful, green and conducive to meaningful teaching and
learning. Our spacious and eco-friendly campus is supported by modern
infrastructure, thoughtfully designed learning spaces, advanced educational
technology, sport and recreational facilities, and a range of resources that
support the academic, physical, creative and social development of our
students.
At Gyanodaya,
education goes beyond the classroom. We believe in empowering students to learn,
unlearn and relearn, to think independently, act responsibly and face the
